Hands On

Hands On arose from an Inspiration Day, led by Gerard Naughton in 2002. Workshop sessions followed in August, September and October at which over 80 people, babes in arms to pensioners, had their hands moulded in plaster. In workshops in November and January 2003 clay was worked into the moulds to create ‘hands’ which were placed on clay tiles, each with the name of its ‘owner’, and then fired. It was decided to place the clay ‘hands’ on the wall around the Plump and they were finally installed there in October 2007.

A long-lasting village work of art is the result, still there to see.
