Trips & Outings

One of the highlights of the year was the annual trip to Scarborough. In earlier days, villagers seem to have gone off by horse and cart to Welburn Station and from there they got the train to Scarborough for the day. Later the trip was by Hopes' buses. Money was raised by events in the village, the children were given half a crown to spend when they were there, and four or five coaches set off, leaving the village deserted.

There seem also to have been outings to a pantomine. And an annual choir outing.
